Guide: Removing “Groove Folder Synchronization” Context Menu

grooveSo anybody who has Office 2007, will notice an extremely annoying new option on the context (right click) menu of everything… called “Groove Folder Synchronization” with some atrocious green icon next to it.

In order to remove the Groove Folder Synchronization from the context (right click) menu, you’ll need to edit the registry…

1. Press start.
2. Choose Run… (If you’re on Vista skip this step.)
3. Type “regedit” without the “quote” marks. (For Vista users, just type it in the “Start Search” bar.)
4. Press Enter
5. This will open up the Registry Editor, you’ll need to navigate to the following registry keys, and delete them. NOTE: These will all be FOLDERS that you will be deleting from the registry.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\XXX Groove GFS Context Menu Handler XXX

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\XXX Groove GFS Context Menu Handler XXX

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\XXX Groove GFS Context Menu Handler XXX

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\XXX Groove GFS Context Menu Handler XXX

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\XXX Groove GFS Context Menu Handler XXX

Find those folders and right click them and DELETE them from the registry. This will have NO adverse effects on your system, it will only remove the context menu that is so gaudy.

Web Design?

So, Slapdash has been sitting idle for the past couple of months. Mostly I’ve just been having it redirect to this blog. I’m about to set it up as a mock web-design dump page. Have my body of work, offer some services, like some basic web design and setups of certain things.

Not that it would make any business, but you never know!

I think I’ll use RapidWeaver of the next few days to mock up something nice. Maybe throw some flashy things on it, like a CSS dock or something just to drive home the point that I can make awesome stuff.

I’ve done some good webdesign by hand too even. take Lavallee & Ide for example.

Coded that by hand in notepad mostly, turned out pretty darn well. It’s just a basic page with some info about the Lavallee and Ide manufacturing company (a sister company of Michigan Drill). too bad I didn’t get paid to make that. Blah.
