So far so good on this… I made the DMG file on a friends macbook, and we restored it to my thumb drive, and ran it off that, and so far so good.

Then take a USB stick with enough space on it and format it to HFS, and make sure to format it as GUID.

Use disk utilities restore mode to restore the DVD image to the USB stick. Insert the USB stick into your white MacBook and boot from it.

Now you can re-install on your Mac I did this myself on my girlfriends Mac, hers optical drive doesnt work as well.

I think it is a driver issue, but there’s no way I can do a fresh install, the DVD drive on the white MacBook is broken, and that’s the one that I use… the Aluminum is a co-workers.

Yeah but my CD drive is broken on it, so I need a way to upgrade to the new OS.

Maybe it is some kind of driver issue between the white MacBook and the Aluminum one? I think you should try a fresh install instead
